ICS / Industrial Control System Modernization

ICS modernization means replacing outdated or faulty automation with a modern, reliable and maintainable system. Over time equipment reaches the end of its service life, controllers are discontinued, spare parts disappear, and control is increasingly carried out manually. Atlas Scada performs the modernization and reconstruction of automation systems in Astana and across Kazakhstan — keeping the facility running and without "revolutions" where a targeted replacement will do.

What modernization includes

• Site survey and audit of the existing automation and I&C.
• A modernization design with a list of equipment to be replaced.

• Migration and refinement of control logic, adding protections and interlocks.
• Commissioning and bringing the system to operating mode.
• Connection to supervisory control via the Atlas server.

Import substitution and recovery

A common task during modernization is moving away from unavailable imported equipment. We migrate logic from TIA Portal (Siemens) to CODESYS (ОВЕН and others) while preserving functionality and with minimal panel rework. If the program source code has been lost, we recover the algorithm from the facility itself.

Modernization without facility shutdown

Wherever possible, we carry out the work in stages, without taking the facility offline for long: we replace units one at a time, keep the existing communications, and switch over to the new automation during an agreed window. This is especially important for boiler houses during the heating season and for facilities with continuous operation.

Our experience

We carried out the reconstruction of heating units with a full replacement of outdated automation in the building of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the restoration of the fire-suppression system with automation replacement at the Astana Arena sports complex.
